Environmental Objectives

What is an Environmental Management Objective?

An environmental objective should build off the environmental policy.

It must give clear, specific goals that the organisation wants to meet that will help in achieving and maintaining their policy.

These environmental objectives should be attainable, but not too vague whereby they are too easy to achieve. They should strive for continuous improvement as this is at the core of the standard

Some examples of environmental objectives could be:

  • Minimise raw material use
  • Minimize the unneeded use of paper
  • Reduce carbon footprint by encouraging carpooling in the workplace
  • Use recycled plastic where attainable
  • Correctly dispose of workplace waste
  • Reduce chemical spills and gas leaks in the workplace
